When was the last time you sent someone a personalized card? One that was addressed to the person by hand, and included a hand-written note? When was the last time you received one? Nowadays, kids learn about e-mail and instant messaging on the computer. There are cell phones and Ipods and blackberries and all sorts of electronic gadgets that people use to communicate with each other. It's all instant and immediate and great for impatient people. And yet...somehow, getting an e-mail is not quite as exciting or as personal as receiving a letter in the mail. An e-mail is simply an image on a computer screen containing words. If you forget to print or save the e-mail, it's gone forever. But a hand-written note, now, that's different. Someone took the time to sit down, find a pen or pencil, hand-write the letter, put it into an envelope, stamp the envelope, and drop it into the mail. That card used to be in the writer's hands. The writer's personality and warmth glow up from the page. To bring back the days of personal correspondence, here is a collection of notecards inspired by the four seasons themselves. We honor the seasons by observing how some industrious garden fairies cope with the weather. Each card comes with a white parchment envelope.
